How are you feeling right now?

This moment, I’m fine. Other days, not so fine. I have anxiety normally, so this global pandemic on top of that is a bit scary and extra anxiety-inducing. But at the moment, I’m fine.

What’s something that you’ve lost or really miss because of the current situation?

I lost my job unfortunately. Before everything really happened, I had started working in a supermarket and it was just chaos. There were people everywhere and it was really scary. I couldn’t stay in the job because I have asthma, my GP told me I couldn’t, it was too dangerous. I live with my husband, Keith, and my mam and she’s in that vulnerable age so if I brought something home to her, that would be really bad. I really miss my family too, that’s really hard.

What’s something that you’ve gained?

I’m being more creative, I draw a lot more. A lot of artists have started offering downloadable adult colouring books so I’ve been doing a lot of that, and a lot of painting. I’ve been trying to play my ukulele, very badly! We’ve been out doing a lot of gardening too.

Who are you most worried about?

I’m worried about my family, especially my mam and my siblings and their partners – they’re all vulnerable people, they’re all high risk. So it’s bit scary, worrying about it them and there’s nothing really I can do. You can check in with them and try and reassure them but there’s nothing physically I can do, they all live in the country too. I couldn’t visit them anyway but I can’t even bring them groceries or anything like that. I’m worried about my in-laws too because they’re not used to seeing their grand kids, it’s hard for them not to see them and give them a hug. They’re only one and two so they get upset when we’re talking online because they don’t understand.

What are you most hopeful for?

For all this to end and go back to normal. But mostly I just want people to be kind. I know it’s a really scary time and people are scared and they’re angry but I just want people to be kind, especially to people working in shops. It’s tough for them because people just aren’t getting it, they’re not social distancing and some people are just being really rude. You don’t need that on top of everything that’s going on so if there’s one thing we can all take away from this is just to be kind to everyone. We’re all in this together so there’s no point in making it any worse.
